Responsible sourcing

Responsible procurement and supply-chain cooperation.

WCW Flex aims to build long-term, transparent relationships with OEM customers and supply-chain partners. Our cooperation discussions consider product quality, delivery reliability, technical communication, lawful business conduct, worker protection and environmental responsibilities together.

Fair and transparent business

We support fair competition, accurate technical communication and responsible handling of commercial information. Project requirements, samples and validation records should be reviewed through clear and traceable communication.

Human rights and labor baseline

We do not support child labor, forced labor, discrimination, harassment or unsafe working conditions. Customer or supplier reviews may cover lawful employment, workplace safety, training and corrective-action follow-up.

Environmental responsibility

We encourage responsible material use, pollution prevention, waste control, energy awareness and compliance with applicable environmental requirements. Environmental evidence should be matched to the product, site and project scope.

Evidence for supplier review

For a project review, prepare the applicable company, product and quality documents, material information, test or inspection records, traceability details and corrective-action responses. Share only the documents relevant to the confirmed scope.

Quality & Validation

Built for engineering validation and supplier approval.

We support sample trials, specification review, material documents and production consistency checks.

Standards & Test Methods

Use the right evidence for the right sleeving decision.

This reference separates product categories, test methods, material evaluations and insulation-system approval. It is a practical guide for engineering review, sample requests and supplier audits; it does not replace the current standard text or a product-specific certification file.

UZFT2

Coated electrical sleeving category

Use UZFT2 as a classification and application boundary for coated electrical sleeving, typically involving a textile substrate and polymer coating.

  • Confirm exact model, temperature, voltage, wall thickness and marking.
  • For VW-1 or oil resistance, verify the model-specific file and test evidence.
  • Do not use it as a substitute for a complete wire, cable or insulation system.
UL 1441

Coated electrical sleeving safety standard

UL 1441 covers applicable coated electrical sleeving constructions and related electrical, thermal, flame and environmental evaluations.

  • Relevant checks can include dielectric strength, volume resistivity, cold bend, oil resistance and hydrolytic stability.
  • VW-1 is an optional sleeving flame test where the exact model and marking support it.
  • Temperature index values are not a universal rating for every product or assembly.
UL 94 vs VW-1

Different flame questions

UL 94 V-0 and UL 1441 VW-1 are not interchangeable claims. They evaluate different specimen arrangements and product contexts.

Flexible insulating sleeving test methods

Part 2 explains how to test dimensions, thermal behavior, mechanical properties, electrical performance, flame propagation and environmental resistance.

  • Confirm whether the product is braided, extruded, heat-shrinkable, adhesive-lined or composite.
  • Use the relevant Part 3 product sheet and customer specification for pass limits.
  • Record specimen preparation, conditioning, test method, laboratory and result basis.
CSA 0.17 / UL 1446

Material evaluation and insulation-system boundary

CSA C22.2 No. 0.17-00, reaffirmed in 2018, provides a polymer-material evaluation framework. UL 1446 addresses electrical insulation systems and thermal life evaluation.

  • Material-level V-0, CTI, RTI, HWI or HAI data must be tied to the specified specimen and thickness.
  • UL 1446 system evidence is not the same as a sleeving product certificate.
  • Separate material data, sleeving test data and end-product validation in the project file.

OEM Evidence Checklist

Request a traceable package before supplier approval.

  • Exact product model, revision, color, dimensions, wall thickness and lot number
  • Temperature, voltage, bend radius, abrasion, fluid and installation conditions
  • Applicable UL/CSA/IEC reference, model-specific marking and test report
  • Drawing, sample photos, test specimen details and customer acceptance criteria
  • Change-control, material declaration and production traceability records

Selection FAQ

Questions engineers ask before testing a sleeving sample.

Is UL 94 V-0 the same as UL 1441 VW-1?

No. UL 94 V-0 is a material or component flammability classification under specified specimen conditions. UL 1441 VW-1 is an optional vertical flame test for applicable coated electrical sleeving. They should not be treated as interchangeable.

Does IEC 60684-2:2025 provide one universal pass/fail value?

No. Part 2 defines test methods. The applicable limits come from the relevant IEC 60684-1 and Part 3 requirements, customer drawings and project specifications.

Does UZFT2 prove that every coated sleeving product is UL certified?

No. UZFT2 is a classification boundary. The exact model, UL file, marking, construction and end-product conditions must be verified.

Can UL 1446 replace sleeving-level testing?

No. UL 1446 concerns an electrical insulation system. It does not replace model-specific sleeving data or the end-product validation required by the customer.

What should be included in a customer sample package?

Include the exact model and revision, dimensional and material data, applicable standard references, available reports, marking or file information where applicable, lot traceability, installation conditions and the agreed validation plan.

Important: This page is an internal-style public guide to standards relationships. Certification status, ratings and final suitability must be confirmed from current official documents, the exact product file and the customer end-product requirements.
